Choosing the right hair extension method is the difference between a result that disappears into your own hair and one that announces itself the moment you tie a ponytail. At Will Wyatt Concept in Orlando, we install four methods — and we recommend the one that fits your hair, not whatever the salon happens to know.
Orlando has dozens of salons advertising "hair extensions." Almost all of them are certified in one method — usually tape-in, sometimes beaded wefts. That's fine if tape-in happens to be right for your hair. The problem is when it isn't, and you end up uncomfortable, mismatched, or with damage you didn't sign up for.
Will Wyatt Concept is the only VBE-certified (Veiled Bead Extension) salon in Central Florida and one of the few studios in the Southeast master-certified in four distinct methods. This guide walks through each one so you walk into your consultation knowing what to ask for.
Veiled Bead Extensions (VBE)
VBE is the newest and most discreet hand-tied method on the market. The attachment is genuinely invisible — even when wearing a high ponytail or a wet bun. The bead is woven into a thin section of your natural hair using a silicone-lined attachment that protects the hair shaft, then the weft of hair is tied on top.
Best for: clients who wear their hair up, swim regularly, or want a method nobody can detect. Lasts 8 to 10 weeks between move-ups.
Investment: install starts around $1,800 including hair.
Hand-Tied Wefts
The classic luxury method. Custom-formed beads anchor a silicone-lined attachment, and the weft is hand-tied row by row. Hand-tieds are gentle on natural hair, comfortable to sleep in, and look incredibly natural.
Best for: medium-to-thick hair that wants added length, fullness, or both. The most popular method overall.
Investment: install starts around $1,500.
Tape-In Extensions
Tape-in is the gateway method. Thin pre-bonded panels of hair are sandwiched onto thin sections of your natural hair with a medical-grade adhesive. The install is fast (under two hours), removal is easy, and the result is undetectable when installed correctly.
Best for: clients trying extensions for the first time, anyone with fine hair, or anyone who wants flexibility to remove the install easily. More on tape-in here.
Investment: install starts around $900.
Beaded Wefts (NBR-Style)
The traditional row method that built the modern extension industry. Beaded wefts use larger micro-beads (no silicone lining) and a continuous weft sewn or beaded onto a row of your natural hair. We still install this for clients who specifically request the NBR method.
Best for: clients who've worn beaded wefts before and prefer the feel, or anyone who wants a higher-density install at a lower entry cost than VBE.
How We Decide
The complimentary consultation always starts the same way. We look at:
- Your natural hair density — beaded methods need enough hair to anchor cleanly
- Your scalp sensitivity — some beads sit higher than others
- Your lifestyle — swim daily? Heavy workouts? Long hours in a hard hat?
- How you wear it — high ponytails change the math entirely
- Your maintenance appetite — every method needs move-ups, but at different intervals
Then we color-match. Will is Brazilian-trained and Alma-certified, which means we hand-color or pre-order hair to your exact tone instead of trying to make a stock match work.
About Orlando's Climate
This part matters: Florida humidity is brutal on extensions. Cheap hair frizzes. Cheap installs slip. Cheap aftercare ruins both. We exclusively source premium hair from Bohyme, Veiled Bead Extensions, and select Brazilian suppliers — hair that holds up to the climate without going limp by month two.
What a Consultation Looks Like
Every extension client at Will Wyatt Concept starts with a complimentary 30-minute consultation. We diagnose your hair, walk through the four methods, recommend the one that fits, color-match in person, and quote your install exactly. There is no obligation, no high-pressure pitch, and no charge if you decide extensions aren't right for you.
